Valentines Day

Christmas Day is over, New Year’s celebration is in 2 days. Two more months and it’s Valentine’s Day. Have you bought gifts for your loved ones for this coming Valentine's day already? I haven't yet but I'm planning to hit the mall when prices go down after the Christmas holiday.

valentines shopping

I really don’t like to go shopping when the mall is so full of shoppers also. And I don’t like last minute shopping. Better to buy those gifts early. I ought to make my list already.

Thankful

Why_God

Instead of asking "WHY?", we should instead be thankful. God gives us more than what we ask for and more than what we deserve.

This is how I dance

Saw this on somebody’s wall while checking my Facebook account.

how i dance

So funny! There should be another one about “singing”.

Noche Buena Feast

Noche Buena is one of the many Christmas traditions that our family practices every year. Not a single Christmas eve passes by without doing this yearly tradition. At the strike of midnight on Christmas, the kids are woken up to check their Christmas socks for gifts from Santa. More gifts are also under the Christmas tree for the kids and adults to unwrap. The adults take turn in singing their favorite songs on the Karaoke machine or play Bingo. More family games are done while feasting on the sumptuous meal laid out on the dining table, right after saying grace.

noche buena

our Christmas dinner

siomai - gone in 50 seconds

But before the Noche Buena feast, preparing for it is very tiring and stressful. The gifts are bought two months before the celebration. It’s purposely done that way, bought way ahead of the December month, to save on the high prices that shots up during the holiday season and to avoid the Christmas rush.

Next on the to-do list are the clothes. We have a theme-color every year for Noche Buena and the Media Noche, New Year family dinner, as well. For the Christmas dinner, most of the time, we usually wear red, green or red and green - the Christmas colors. The next year’s “color of the year” is usually the theme-color for the New Year dinner.

A small family meeting is done for the planning of what to prepare for Christmas dinner. Usually with a bottle of wine, and sometimes non-alcoholic “wine”, and chips. A list of the menu is then done, as well as the list of the ingredients that needs to be bought a day before the Christmas dinner.

champagne

The day before Christmas. The morning of December 24 is done visiting the grocery store to buy the ingredients needed for Christmas dinner. Last minute buying of gifts is also squeezed in on the schedule. After the usual dinner, kids then prepare Santas cookie and milk, put it under the tree then they got tucked in bed at around 8 pm. Excited kids, read: my son, begin snoring at 10 pm or 11 pm already.

Before midnight, someone has to take a big bite on the cookie and drink some of the milk. When midnight strikes, the happy chaos begins.

cough and allergy season

December is not just Christmas season on my side of the world. It is also the time when cough, cold and allergies zap out the energy out of even the most energetic people. If you already have the symptoms, here are some ways to zap them out of your system right away.

- Visit your doctor at the first sign of symptoms.
- Gargle with salt water to sooth sore throat.
- Double up your dose of vitamin C.
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- Eat more fruits and vegetables.
- Avoid sweet and cold food.
- Keep warm.
- Get at least 8 hours of sleep.
- Rest, rest and more rest.

cough cold allergy season

To prevent the spread to people around you

- Always cover you mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
- Avoid crowded places and too much contact with people.
- Wash hands frequently with soap and water.

Ironing day

Sunday night, right after I tuck RJ to bed and he's already sound asleep, is when I iron all the newly washed clothes needed for that week. I used to iron our clothes as-needed. But because of the high electric rate, ridiculously high compared with other Asian countries, I now try to iron our clothes once a week. I have this foldable ironing board, as huge and look like a snow board, that fits well on the side of the cabinet in our small condominium space.

DSCN3806

There's no significant decrease in our electric bill but a few peso decrease is good enough saving that can be used for the next month's utilities.

picture memories

I was browsing the files on an old USB and saw some pictures of RJ when he was still a toddler. I’m glad I saved those because his baby pictures got erased when my sister P reformatted an old PC, good thing I printed out some baby pictures of RJ already before she deleted everything. Sad that I was only able to print a handful.

epson projector

Back to his toddler pictures. I can’t believe how small he was then! I was comparing his pictures then and now, looks the same and different at the same time. Physically, his facial feature all looks the same but he has grown taller and thinner, he was a chubby little boy. If I only have a Genie, I’ll ask for a very high-end projector right this very minute. To view a slideshow of all the pictures, chronologically, will most definitely bring more tears to my eyes.

How to attract visitors to your site

I am trying to unhibernate slowly go back to blogging. Hopefully, starting today, I get to publish at least one new blog post everyday. I have 10 blogs, will I ever publish 10 posts everyday? Good luck to me.

eat all you can dot info my food blog

Blog hopping first, but is getting annoyed with blogs that are taking so much of my time. This is one of the things that I hate when I blog hop, some blogs doesn’t load fast. Why? Because of too much “things”, which are not really important at all, on the sidebar/s.

Here’s one tip for you to have loyal blog readers. Delete unnecessary links and badges on your sidebar. A blog that loads fast will surely attract repeat visitors.

Business Ideas for Christmas 2011

Christmas is a season of joy. But it is also a season of too much spending. So how can we solve the problem of going broke after the holidays? Think of money making ideas this Christmas season.

merry christmas

Here are some that you might want to try:

1. gift basket - Busy professionals does not have the time to go shopping for gifts. Take advantage of that and market this business to friends and family.
2. craft ornaments - Make unique crafts that can be used to decorate a home for a more Christmas-sy feel.
3. food catering services - Big families plan big parties. If you have the cooking skills and the ability to handle pressure, this business is for you.
4. car check-up - Families gather together during Christmas. Some people often travel long distance to be with their family. Car check-up and tune-up’s are necessary for this long travel. You can market your services to those on a tight budget.
5. freight forwarding - For the gifts to arrive at the right place, at the right time.
6. money lending - You can help, and earn a few, friends and family members who are on a tight budget.
7. event hosting - Not a shy person? Use that skill.
8. photo and video coverage - Have a high-end camera, offer to be the official photographer and videographer on family gatherings. You can partner this with #3 and #7 and earn more.
9. gift wrapping service - Give your services to people who doesn’t have the time to wrap their gifts.
10. venue leasing - Do you have a garden huge enough for family gathering, lease it this holiday season.
Happy Holidays and Good luck!

Signature from Disney Characters

We went to Hong Kong Disneyland last weekend. It was my son’s first international trip. We waited that long, he’s now 10 years old because one: I don’t want to waste an expensive vacation - he’ll surely forget the experience if he’s still too young and two: I don’t like the idea of carrying him around, I also want to enjoy the trip.

I’ve been to Disney World in Florida a few years back. Hong Kong Disneyland is just a quarter in size compared with Disney World. But still, I had more fun in Hong Kong because my son was with me.

Minnie Mouse minnie signature

He bought a notebook, autograph booklets were out-of-stock, where the Disney characters can put their signature. He doesn’t actually want to have his picture taken with the girl characters but why waste the chance of me and him and Minnie Mouse together, right?

What is a transcriptionist

My sister is a work-at-home mom. She is a business, sometimes medical, transcriptionist. Transcriptionists convert voice recorded reports to text formats. Sounds easy, right? Actually it’s not as easy as it sounds, especially if you’re listening to a person with a heavy accent.

You might have found your way to this post while searching for instructions on how to become a transcriptionist or you’re looking for transcription jobs. I can help you with the former.

transcriptionist

1. You need a computer, headphones, a software called Express Scribe that you can download for free and a foot pedal.
2. Download some sample transcription reports and practice transcribing it.
3. Improve your typing speed.
4. Learn “how to read between the lines”, for speakers heavy accents you definitely need that skill.
5. Ready? Start applying for transcription jobs, many can be found online.

Good luck!

learn to swim

I have scoliosis and my Auntie S has been urging me to learn how to swim. Swimming she said is a good exercise and it’s usually helpful for people with scoliosis. Don’t have any idea what scoliosis is? It’s a medical condition wherein a person’s spine is curved from side to side. Yes, I have a curvy spine.

Back to swimming. I want to enroll in swimming class but my problem is I don’t know how to float. I have tried a lot of times, floating in the pool, but I've failed a million times already.

adult-swim-lessons

Maybe I should just buy an inflatable pool which is big enough for me to swim around. I can practice floating at home, don’t need to embarrass myself in front of other people in a public pool right? And when I have finally perfected floating, face down, side float and back float, then I can try enrolling in swim class again.

Five Question Friday

First time I'm joining, hope I'm not late. Here goes...

1. Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?
Yes, I wanna be a billionaire! Who wouldn’t feel good being, or at least dreaming of becoming, a billionaire one day?

2. Are you a real Christmas tree kinda person or do you go with a real fake one?
Fake one. Don’t have good pine trees, in this country, that are small enough to fit in our house

3. What are you thankful for?
Right now, I’m thankful for crackers. I forgot to eat lunch and it’s already past 3 in the afternoon. Good thing I have some crackers in the pantry.

4. Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?
Nothing really.

5. Do you wait until the "low fuel" light comes on before you fill up the gas tank?
I don’t drive so this question is not applicable for me?

Drop by Five Crooked Halos if you want to join in the fun!

five question friday

fashion forward

I wonder whether we, the Philippines, will ever be ahead of other countries in terms of fashion? With the increasing number of Filipino designers making it big in other countries, I think we have a fair chance of one day being dubbed as a fashion-forward country.

Although fashionable snow shoes will never be trendy in this country, no snow here, boots has become a trend this year. Gone are the days when black boots peeking underneath flared jeans is fashionable already. Boots were only available in black 10 or more years ago.

green-ukay-ukay-coat-black-forever-21-boots-black-divisoria-belt

Yes, we do have a chance. We’re slowly, but surely, inching our way to becoming a fashion forward country.

korean fashion

I don’t exactly have a style icon. I also don’t go with any fashion hype -not at all. Whatever is comfortable and fashionable enough, sans the metals and glittery things that young people wear these days, -that’s my style.

But I do like Korean fashion, well some -not exactly all. Comfort comes first on my check list. Here are some images that I found online. Looks very chick, yet still looks comfortable to wear.

chiffon dress wholesalekoreanfashion

This sleeveless dress is comfortable enough for the Philippine weather. Denim combined with lace, sexy!

rose collar creased dress wholesalekoreanfashion

This rose-collared creased dress looks fabulously demure.

trend setter look atseoul

I can carry that outfit! I just have to lose some weight. Don’t you just love the whole look? Looks so fab!

I close this post with this outfit that I’ll never have the courage to wear in this humid country.

Get a Good Feeling from Textbook Purchases

No one ever feels good after buying textbooks, as they are so expensive. However, if you rent your books from Campus Book Rentals, you can feel better about the impact it has on your wallet and get a good feeling by helping those less fortunate than yourself. The website partnered with Operation Smile and are donating over 1,000 life saving cleft lip surgeries this year to children in need.

campus book rentals

Operation Smile has been helping less fortunate children around the world since 1982. This organization offers free surgeries to children born with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. However, they thrive on the generous donations from their sponsors and others.

Now is the time for you to help. All you have to do is rent textbooks rather than purchasing them, which is bound to save you money. Campus Book Rentals offers free shipping both ways, a 30 day trial period and flexible rental dates. Additionally, you will no longer need to worry about what to do with your books once the semester is over. If you are like most student, you have tried to sell your purchased books back, only to get a few bucks back or worse nothing at all. This need not be a concern with renting your books, since you simply send them back for free.

So for next semesters books, please consider renting. It will help your wallet and children all over the world, which will give you a good feeling about purchasing textbooks.

All I Want for Christmas

… is my two front teeth? Nah, I still have those. Not fruit baskets either.

What I want this Christmas is just to be able to rest. For the whole Christmas break, I want to just relax and enjoy. No stress on what to feed my son for breakfast or what to cook for lunch or for dinner. I want my hand to rest from washing clothes and the dishes.

sun bathing

Going home in the province this Christmas season will give me weeks of relaxation from the usual stress in my everyday life. I love vacations. I love Christmas.

Ten Ways to Love

Saw this on the wall of one of my Facebook friends.

ten ways to love

Number one is easy for me to do, it would be hard to understand what the other person is saying if I don’t give him/her a chance to speak also. Enjoy without complaint, can be done but not if it’s about something that I've paid so much and then turns out I’ve been duped. Like for example food that I already paid for that turned up to taste so bad.

Promise without forgetting is easier to do these days with the invention of gadget alarms (eg. cellular phone, iCalendar). Share without pretending, easy to do. Give without sparing on the other hand is really hard to do, what with the financial crisis that everyone is oh-so-well-aware of.

Trust without wavering? Speak without accusing? Answer without arguing? Forgive without punishing? It depends on the situation, for me anyway. What about you?

Lesson learned

My niece’s former nanny texted me this morning. She’s asking if she can borrow a few hundreds. I would gladly give her some money but she’s asking me to send it via Smart Padala. I told her I can’t go out of the house since my son is just recuperating from stomach flu. And I don’t know where to look for a Smart Padala in our area.

At such a young age, barely even 25, she’s already a mom to two young kids. When she last visited us, she told my sister - her former employer, that she should have listened to my sister’s advice.

When she was working for my sister, all she needs to do is bring my niece to school and household chores. She just sit around the whole afternoon doing nothing, not that she’s lazy but there’s really nothing else to do.

lesson-learned

She got married at such a young age and now works hard for a measly 200 pesos per day at a catering company. She did learn her lesson, but it’s now too late to tell her “I told you so”. I sure hope and pray that everything turns out for the better, for her and her family.

Too much books, too little space

This is my brown for the week. Our overflowing bookshelf.

bookshelf

When we transferred to this new house, we already left one overflowing bookshelf in the other house. I now again need to buy another bookshelf. RJ has so many books. I stopped buying when I discovered iBooks but RJ's collection is growing everyday! The downside of having a son who is a voracious reader, books these days aren’t cheap. Last week alone, I bought 4 books for him. Can't say no since I am a book addict as well.

I don’t always buy books that he wont learn something from. Comic books and magazines, maybe once a month. But books that are informative, I don’t hesitate to buy him those.

Back to the bookshelf, I don’t think another one will fit inside our 1 bedroom condominium unit. Unless I give away our dining and living room furniture, we can fit around 5 or more bookshelves in the living and dining room area.

I guess I just need to let go some of the books.

Christmas 2011 Wish Number 1

I go for the simple things in life. Anything too extravagant -not my taste. This is especially true with the clothes that I have. Anything that can catch too much attention I definitely won’t buy.

simple-gray-dress

That dress is on my Christmas wish list. Fashionable but simple. And I’m sure that design will hide the flaws around my tummy area. Although it's a bit big, I also love the clutch bag. Perfect combination.

How to delete archived posts on your computer

This is a guide on how to delete posts created using Windows Live Writer.

windows live writer

I have been using Windows Live Writer (aka WLW) for, more or less, a year already. I use it especially with my Blogger hosted blogs. There are days when blogger is very slow, sometimes it even hangs up. So to save myself from pulling my hair out of frustration, when that unfortunate thing happens, I use Windows Live Writer when I update my blogs.

Upon publishing a post, WLW saves a copy of the post in the computer. And it automatically gets saved on the blog as well. I don’t need two copies so I usually delete, after a few months, the saved posts in my computer.

Can’t find it?

1. Go to the My Documents folder
2. Click My Weblog Posts
3. You’ll see two folders : Drafts and Recent Posts
4. From there you can choose the posts, published or drafts, that you want to delete.

group buying deals addict

I again wasted my time looking at the hundreds of deals, just for today!, from different group buying sites. Because of my bad experience at Apricot Diner, buffet coupon bought at Metrodeal, I’ve since learned to research first before clicking the Buy Now button.
Buy Now Button I saw a huge discount on the Nikon DSLR camera that I’ve been wanting to buy. But since I recently bought a new camera, I have to restrain myself from clicking the buy button. I’ll just wait for next year or for the next super sale of DSLR cameras whichever happen first.

I still have 3 vouchers for a set dinner and 1 photobook voucher that I haven’t used yet.

The Good 30 Day Challenge

I learned about this fun community when I started using Pulse on my iPod.

I'm kinda late for this month's challenge but I'll be joining starting today with the 18th day challenge. Today's challenge is : Turn up the music and dance.

#30DaysofGood

I follow a belly dance video everyday, ever since I bought a belly dance video tutorial a few years back. I hope 30 minutes of this exercise is good enough as my entry for today's challenge. I am a big fan of this exercise since it helped me lose some bulges around the waist area. It also doesn't hurt my back, I have scoliosis, like when I do sit-ups.

Tomorrow's challenge: work on a hobby you love.

Pulse News for my iPod

My iPod Touch 4G is only capable of browsing online with a wifi connection. Just recently, I found this news reading application where I can read the latest news even when I'm offline. Pulse News, by Alphonso Labs, is a free application for iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices.

Pulse was founded in May 2010 by Ankit Gupta and Akshay Kothari, two Stanford graduate students as part of a course at the Institute of Design. The inspiration for Pulse was borne out of their frustration with the news reading experience on mobile devices. Pulse has been selected as one of 50 apps in Apple’s App Store Hall of Fame and named one of TIME’s top 50 iPhone apps of 2011.

Pulse News by Alphonso Labs

Before leaving the house, I open the application and it updates automatically. I can read the latest headlines and even new blog posts from my favorite bloggers. I use it to find inspiration on what to write about and what's trending for the day, be it in fashion, health or technology.

If you don't have this application yet, you should download it now.

irresponsible very lazy father

I have a cousin who is now 28 years old. He’s a new dad, his son is only a month old. He got married because his girlfriend got pregnant. I saw his wife’s Facebook status yesterday stating that it would have been better not to be married. It would have been easier to call it quits if they are not married. I feel sorry for her and disappointed with my cousin.

He never finished school. He doesn’t have a job and based on what I’ve seen and read on his wife’s Facebook page - doesn’t have any plan of looking for one.

lazy father

He needs help. But the help that other relatives give him will never help him in the future. They give him an allowance and an aunt shoulders the grocery shopping for him. That I think is the reason why he doesn’t look for a job. Because he has relatives who are more than willing to support HIS little family of three. So why look for a job, right?

So what does he do everyday? Chat with his friends using his cellular phone. It’s not wifi capable, imagine how much he’s paying his celphone network just so he can chat with his friends. Being the eldest cousin, I’m planning to give a suggestion to the family - put him in a center for a few months. Even if they get mad at me, I have to tell my Aunt and other family member’s helping him to stop what they are doing because it doesn’t help him at all.

I’m back!

I have been neglecting this blog, and my nine other blogs, for about a week or two already. My heartfelt thank you to those who left wonderful comments on my posts. Sorry I wasn’t able to give back the love but I promise to visit your blogs once I’m done with the tasks that I need to finish - they’re expiring in a few hours.
blogger with laptop

It wasn’t a bad case of writer’s block. I just got lazy, period. I am blaming my slow computer. But if there’s a will, there’s a way. So I have a plan on how I’ll never entertain laziness again. Hopefully, my lazy personality won’t overpower my energetic self.

changed person

Yes, I'm a changed person. I don't want to have a heart attack at 35, such a young age to die or be bed ridden. And I don't like more wrinkles on my face so I decided to have a positive attitude and stay away from people who has so much negativity in them.

I'm a person who doesn't want to be pushed around. So I respond harshly to people who thinks they're doing the right thing, when in fact they're not. I also hate bad service. I expect to get my money's worth. If I pay a huge amount for a fried chicken, I expect a big serving of fried chicken on my plate.

are you a good person test

But now, I try to lie-low from being an ogre. It's actually hard but because I want to live longer, I have to be nice from now on.

ask for the person in-charge

I called our building's administration office today to ask why I haven't received a billing statement for a few months already. The person who answered the phone pointed out some things that doesn't agree with what I know of. She even raised her voice and said some sarcastic things that made me really mad. I could have brushed it off but I was already agitated since she was also saying we already have an outstanding bill of seven thousand pesos.

"Who prepares and sends out the bills?", I asked. "Not me. My officemate though is busy", she said.

I insisted she give the phone to her officemate who was not busy after all. Only then were we able to resolve the issue of the missing statements.

Customer Service and Marketing

The first girl had no business talking to me because she wasn't the person in-charge of the billing. She wasted both our time. I swear I also see some new lines on my face because of the stress she gave me!

Next time I will first ask for the person in-charge.

chess grandmaster

I don't like playing chess. I'd rather play sudoku or kakuro to exercise my brain. Those are “cool games” for me.
chess board

My son on the other hand likes playing chess so much. He will abandon his PSP or Nintendo when asked if he wants to play chess. Every time I move a chess piece he'll say "hmmm. what are you planning to do with that?" What he doesn't know is I really don't have anything planned at all, no chess strategies up my sleeve. I just move whatever my hand can reach first.

"Oh no! My pawn is not guarded!" Next time we play, I'll use my video recorder to capture RJ's enthusiastic and serious mood next time we play chess.

wanted (soon): dedicated server host

Being a stay-at-home mom, for 10 years already, is not as easy as other people might think. It's the most hard but fulfilling job on earth, even Oprah believes so. Having no maid, nanny and driver didn't stop me from working during my spare time.

One of such work is blogging. I started to blog for a living 2 years ago. I was researching on how to earn money online when I came upon this mommy blog that has a post on how much she earns every month. If she can do it, I definitely can also.

I started blogging on a free blogging site. I researched online on how I can earn from my blog. I can proudly say I did it on my own without anybody spoon-feeding me along the way. When my two blogs were earning already, I bought it's own domains and had it hosted by a mommy blogger that I met on one of my blog hops. Installing it was easy peasy because I didn’t have to do it myself, it was already included in the hosting package that I availed.

I now have 10 blogs and I don't have any plans of stopping there. I'm planning to divide my blogs in two different servers with the same web host. I can't afford for them to be offline all at the same time during a server downtime. I hope my current host will offer a dedicated hosting service soon.

Mommy Blogger Business Card my business card

In a few years my blogs might even balloon to twice more of what I have now. I might have my blogs hosted with a dedicated server at that time. As early as now, I'm already researching the pros and cons of a dedicated server as compared with a shared hosting. When the time comes for me to decide on what to choose, I'll definitely be ready.

happy birthday to me!

My birthday was yesterday, September 11, and I am now 35! I don’t feel that old though, I feel like I’m just in my early 20’s. I had an early birthday celebration with my sisters, nephew and cousin. Of course RJ was with us.

Italiannis - Italian restaurant

I was overwhelmed with the birthday greetings and wishes that I got on facebook from my facebook friends. A day before my birthday, my facebook account was already flooded with greetings and notifications.

Because I have deadlines to meet, we just had lunch at Lola Maria’s Restaurant at Legend Hotel in Pasig. It was my first time to try out that restaurant.

Overall, I had a wonderful birthday weekend.

masterchef? not me!

After the successful launch of Pinoy Junior Master Chef, ABS-CBN is now holding auditions for Master Chef (Philippines) Pinoy edition.
The qualifications are
  • 18 to 50 years old
  • no culinary degree or diploma
  • no cooking experience in a fine or casual dining restaurant
  • no teaching experience in a cooking class or demo
Master Chef Pinoy Edition

I’m qualified! I better look for used culinary equipments, so I can practice my culinary skills. But I’m no cooking expert like my sister D. I should encourage her to audition since she loves cooking, next to her daughter, so much!

She should show her talent to the whole world. Just like what I always tell my son, you’re very lucky for your God-given talent and the least that one can do to show their gratitude to God is to improve their talents and use it for good.

internet provider

My internet connection is very sloooow today. This has been going on for quite a few weeks already. And there are days when I’m in the middle of uploading something or posting a new blog post when the connection suddenly goes poof!

my destiny internet

My Destiny cable internet, way faster than DSL? Not!

They already visited our house and fixed the cable, wiring or whatever it is that they said they fixed - twice already- but I still get  an on and off internet connection.

So I’m looking for a new internet provider. Any suggestions? Are you happy with yours?

medicine or nursing

More and more people in this country seek for jobs elsewhere. And that includes people who work in the medical field. The number of doctors in Philippine hospitals decline every year. There are two main reasons why: one, they find a better paying job out of the country; two: because there are more jobs for nurses than a General Practitioner job out of the country, more and more doctors enroll in nursing school.

male and female nurse

My son wants to be a scientist so it’s very probable that he one day decides to pursue a career in the medical field. I just hope that the economy is better at that time. I don’t want him to take up an expensive medicine course and go back to school to take up nursing just so he has a better chance of grabbing a job abroad.

I’m planning to buy a new gadget that loads faster than my almost two year old netbook. A gadget that I can bring anywhere, lighter than my netbook  and can fit even in a small handbag. I wanted to buy a Samsung Galaxy tab but had a change of heart when I get to try my sister’s iPod Touch.

The iPod Touch features, I love! Everything that I need, iPod Touch can deliver. I can browse online, I can play my favorite music, I can read ebooks, I can watch movies, I can take pictures, I can record HD videos and my son can also download and play games.

One thing I need to check out though is if blogging is doable in a very small screen. I have to try it out next time I visit an Apple store.

Next on my to-do list: enroll in business school

It was never a difficult decision to become a stay-at-home mom. Taking care of my baby, instead of focusing on my career, became my top priority when I first laid eyes on him. I was planning on going back to work when he's a few months older. But he started having asthma attacks when he turned one, so my career was further put on hold.

When my son was in preschool, I tutored a few students in our house. It was a fun and fulfilling way to spend my ME time. Not to say that I was also well compensated. I began selling airline tickets and tour packages to family, friends and friends of friends at that time also.

My small business ventures took a back seat when my son got accepted in his school's varsity team.  But at the back of my head, I now know what to do. I want to go back to school. Hopefully, I can squeeze in business school, in my hectic mommy schedule, next year.

There are lots of other business ideas on my head aside from those, the two mentioned earlier, that I’ve already tried out. I want to learn what to do with all the awesome ideas. I want to make my ideas into a reality.

My sacrifice to become a stay-at-home mom is the best decision that I’ve done in my whole life. I was able to take care of my son and was also able to find out a better career path for me.

MMT #14 - Mom-ME Time, 28 August 2011

My me-time this week was watching My Binondo Girl. This new television series of ABS-CBN is about a Filipina-Chinese named Jade, played by actress Kim Chiu, who pretends to be a boy for her Chinese father to accept her.

My Binondo Girl

The primary setting of the television series is in Binondo, Philippines and some scenes are shot in Hongkong, China. Binondo in Manila, Philippines is the oldest Chinatown in the world, established in 1594, and is primarily populated by ethnic Chinese families.

Although I didn’t stood-up-clap-while-shouting-bravo yet, I enjoyed it because I get to unwind after a long day mommy time.

How was your me-time this week?
