he's just not that into you

I just dropped RJ at his tutor's place. I am right now watching "He's Just Not That Into You" on HBO.

He's Just Not That Into You

He's Just Not That Into You is a 2009 American romantic comedy film, based on the self-help book of the same name by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, which in turn was inspired by a line of dialogue in Sex and the City. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson, Sasha Alexander, Justin Long, Jennifer Connelly, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kevin Connolly, and Bradley Cooper. He's Just Not That Into You was directed by Ken Kwapis, and produced by Drew Barrymore's production company, Flower Films, with Barrymore serving as an executive producer.

friday fill-in's #11

friday fill-in's

1. You do your thing; I do mine and sometimes doing things together is allowed.

2. What to post on my blog is what's been on my mind on and off all day. Thank God for friday fill ins!

3. Remember when your child was born?

4. Books, my son RJ and facebook are three of my favorite obsessions :-)

5. During the last year I was able to find former classmates and friends through facebook and twitter!

6. My son's silly jokes (which are not that funny most of the time) puts a smile on my face.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to updating my http://www.mybabyrj.com/, tomorrow my plans include attending a Recollection and Sunday, I want to work on http://www.currentraves.com/!

phone calls using gmail

Calls using Gmail to the U.S. and Canada will be free for at least the rest of the year and calls to other countries will be billed at very low rates. Calls to the U.K., France, Germany, China, Japan—and many more countries—for as little as $0.02 per minute!

Do not brood over your past mistakes and failures as this will only fill your mind with grief, regret and depression. Do not repeat them in the future. ~Swami Sivananda

hostage taking in manila

The hostage-taking incident of a tourist bus, in front of Quirino Grandstand where P-noy was sworn into office a few months back, didn't end happily.

Police Captain Rolando Mendoza
   source: Manila Bulletin

In my opinion, the hostage taker is a selfish prick! Most of the gun wounds found on the victims have entry points at the back. I must admit I made a mistake. He is not a selfish prick. He is an insane, very coward person!

trending worlwide, twitter

What I don't understand though is how we let the world think we are proud of it!? Quirino Grandstand was at the top of the trending words at twitter --at the very same moment the hostage taker was shot dead. Hostage Taker, Mendoza, PNP and Philippine were trending as well. It is so embarrassing! Filipinos could have avoided "those words" when they saw it trending already. Instead of avoiding, they kept on tweeting and retweeting the said words.

healthy midnight snack

I am looking for a new layout for http://www.mybabyrj.com/. I can't help but watch get distracted with the news about the hostage taking that happened earlier today. This is going to be a long night. I want to greet Mr. Sun later with a new layout for my other blog.

Nestle Fruit Selection Yogurt

I have to restrain myself though from getting another Nestle Yogurt, my current fave midnight snack. NESTLE Fruit Selection Yogurt has over a billion live microorganisms that are good for the tummy! Plus, it has real fruit pieces that makes it a snack that is so deliciously good!! My favorites are Buco Nata and Melon Nata. You guessed it right, the nata makes it more delicioso.

Yes, its healthy for my body. Better than eating chips at this time. But it's also distracting me from continuing, with what I am trying to finish, before dawn breaks.

Should I get another one? Maybe I should.

this friend is MIA

I haven't seen my college friend, AC, for more than 10 years already. Have been searching and googling this person's name but haven't found him/her yet. Why "him/her"? Because this person wants to be a "she" but he hasn't outed yet , well, while we were still in college. Actually, the whole world probably know already except for his Dad.

The gift that I gave him for Christmas, during our first year in college, was a troll mermaid. He wanted to bring it home with him, during our Christmas break, but he can't because of his Dad.

Where are you AC? If ever we get to see each other again, this time I will give you sexy corsets for Christmas.

so depressed...

...yesterday. I didn't go online at all.

Yesterday was my Grandmother's first death anniversary. I wasn't able to go home, in the province, because RJ's quarterly tests were scheduled this week. Helping RJ review for his tests distracted me from thinking about my Inay (Filipino word for mom) for awhile. But RJ had to go to his Chinese tutor so I was home alone. And I was not able to stop myself from feeling sad and blue.

home sweet home

When I saw the pictures, that my sister posted on FB today, I became more sad and homesick. I miss our house in the province. Look at our living room with its rustic furnitures. Doesn't it look so homey?

I will definitely spend Christmas and New Year with my family.

should i invest more?

I opened an online stock account a few years back. I was just a newbie in stock investing at that time. Because I got distracted with other things, I neglected my stock account. I checked my account a few weeks back and I got disappointed with what I saw.
I guess the companies, where I put my investment on, still hasn't recovered yet. My friend, who is experiencing the same thing, just made short sales with her investment. Maybe I should do the same thing and invest in a better company.

quote of the day

i thought it will make me rich!

Math was my favorite subject in high school. My math teacher made me believe that I am a math genius! That made me decide to study Math in college. I passed the UPCAT (University of the Philippines College Admission Test) and took up Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics Major in Actuarial Science.

University of the Philippines, UP
I was already counting my salary, when I finally become an Actuary, way before I even graduate and pass my first Actuarial Examination. An actuary is a combination of a business executive, mathematician, financier, sociologist and investment manager. Sounds like a boring, nerdy person right?

Although studying insurance quotes was not part of the curriculum, I still got bored. My heart was not into "working with numbers" anymore but I still finished college.

I did work in an Actuarial firm for a few years but I eventually decided not to become an Actuary after all. What's the use of being rich if I am so bored and not happy with my work. I choose to be poor and happy. Yay for me?

quote of the day

your immediate attention is needed

Our living room requires the highest priority in my priority list. But sadly, I have been neglecting to even add it on my list. The living room is considered, by most people, the most important part of one's home. This is where family get-togethers are usually held during weekends and holidays. One of the most comfortable place in the house to relax next to the bedroom.

need a new sofa cover
sofa cover??

The price range of custom made contemporary furnitures range from unaffordable to sooo unaffordable. I have yet to add more to my savings to buy a high-end one, that is more likely to last longer, than a so-cheap-anybody-can afford furniture.

what is your favorite footwear?

Mine? Slippers and sandals. I don't buy close shoes and sandals with straps. Why? Because my feet develop blisters and callouses easily. How I'd love to wear fashionable shoes and cute sandals for once. I want to buy the latest ugg boots in the market. But just thinking of ugly blisters and calluses for weeks, in exchange for a few hours of strutting-like-a-model in fashionable footwear, not a good idea.

slouch the boot down, cuff it all the way over or wear it all the way up

back pains

I have scoliosis. I found out when I was 12 years old. The doctor said, "It is just a factory defect". Not funny doc, not funny at all. I decided not to use a back brace because I didn't want to be the center of attention in school. How can I find friends in a new school if I look funny. I was imagining myself with something on my back everywhere I go. Betty is more lucky than me. She just needs to wear braces on her teeth!

Back pains are becoming more frequent though. My son is planning to put up a massage business in our house. He said that a few months back, when he was still 8 years old, so I think I will invest in his business. I hope he accepts my proposal. I will buy the massage tables and all I ask in return is a free massage everyday!

looking for a driving school

I am scared of driving here in Manila. I enrolled in a 5-day driving lesson a few years back. I still have nightmares about that scary experience. The driving instructor asked me to drive the car right away. No lecture about car safety, parts of the car or road rules. Why didn't I ask for my money back? I guess I didn't have the energy to complain anymore after every driving session. Up to now, I think, I still don't know how to drive. I never sat behind a wheel again after that I-shouldn't-have-enrolled driving lesson!

roadside assistance club

But now, I need to learn again how to drive. I will practice driving first on an empty road. But I will look for an area that has roadside assistance club.

nervous and worried

RJ has fever since last night. What's making me worried is his continuous coughing. An asthma attack usually follows excessive coughing. Although the attacks were scarce the past few months, it's still making me worried. The fever has lowered down and his coughing stops after every nebulization. I hope his temperature won't shoot up tonight. And hopefully, his coughing doesn't lead to an asthma attack.

My reliable, not-fancy-like-Panerai, watch says it's 6:20PM already. Time for RJ's medicine.

i am a mom first

My number one priority is my son RJ. Me, myself and I - just next on the list. I was pretty young when I gave birth to him at the age of 24. Although I was just starting to build a "career" at that time, I decided to put it on-hold. From the time he was born, I was with him 24/7.

my baby RJ

He's 9 years old now. I now have a few hours each day, while he's in school, to put up a homebased business. But the fact still remains - I will always be a mom first.

Girl Talk # 7

*originally posted here

I love the movie "Steel Magnolias". It was shown in 1989 when I just graduated from grade school. I didn't watch it in a movie house, we just rent betamax tapes back then.

The cast includes Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Darryl Hannah, Julia Roberts.

Revolving around Truvy's Beauty Parlor in a small parish in modern-day Louisiana, STEEL MAGNOLIAS is the story of a close-knit circle of friends whose lives come together there. As the picture opens, we find Drum Eatenton shooting birds in the trees of his back yard in preparation for his daughter's wedding reception that afternoon. Shortly thereafter, M'Lynn and Shelby (Drum's wife and daughter) depart for Truvy's to get their hair done for the wedding. "Just the sweetest thing," Annelle Depuy Desoto (who may or may not be married because her marriage may not be legal) is introduced to Truvy's customers as her new "glamour technician." While in the chairs, the sour-tempered Ouiser Boudreaux shows up and entertains the assemblage with her barbs. It seems that the only one of the group who truly understands Ouiser is Clairee who is recently widowed and looking for a diversion. As she says, later in the picture, "If you can't find anything good to say about anybody, come sit by me." Filled with humor and heartbreak, these "Steel Magnolias" make us laugh and cry as the realities of their lives in tiny Chiquapin Parish unfolds.
Haven't seen this movie yet? You're missing half of your life. Why don't you go to the nearest video rental store near you and borrow one now.

be artistic using your scanner

What is Scanography?
Scanography, also spelled scannography more commonly referred to as scanner photography, is the process of capturing digitized images of objects for the purpose of creating printable art using a flatbed "photo" scanner with a CCD array capturing device. The term scanography formerly referred to medical scanning, but is unrelated in either purpose or technique. Fine art scanography differs from traditional document scanning by using atypical objects, often three dimensional, as well as from photography, due to the nature of the scanner's operation. source: Wikipedia
