shopping has never been this easy

My cousins' wedding is in a few days. I bought two new dresses, during SM Megamall's 3-day sale, a few weeks back. I can't decide which one to wear for my cousin's wedding, so I put both dresses in my suitcase. When I arrived in Bicol, I can't help but give the dresses to my Mom and Aunt B.

Now I have nothing to wear for my cousin's wedding. I don't want to embarrass him by showing up in church wearing a plain white shirt and faded jeans. A social networking site and a friend who's addicted to online shopping helped me with my problem.

I have a lot of things on my to-do list today. I was set on finishing it before the end of the day but I got stuck browsing my friend's summer vacation pictures. I finally realized that I was unproductive for two hours already when my Mom said that lunch was ready.

I was about to say words-not-fit-for-this-blog to myself but a car for sale by owner posting on my friend's account grabbed my attention. The car was listed in an online classifieds website. I got curious, the price was so affordable for a very fancy car, so I followed the link. It happened to be a listing on second-hand vehicles. There's a page for frequently asked questions so the site is very easy to navigate. If you're out of the country, an article on "how to sell a car by owner who doesn't live in the Philippines" is available for you to read.

I also found a dress that I can wear for my cousin's wedding. With just one click of the mouse, my "dress problem" was solved. I never thought shopping online is so easy. Have you shopped online? If you haven't yet, you should try it.

the coolest gadget ever

I want to buy something if it has a purpose and not just so I can have the latest. This is on top of my I WANT! list at the moment - a Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Samsung Galaxy Tab with keyboard
geekalerts

What do I like about it? It is compact and light, a 13.58-ounce, 7-inch tablet that slips easily into a pocket or bag. I have scoliosis and my back becomes painful when carrying heavy things.  It is equipped with 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi  or Bluetooth. Internet-on-the-go means blogging-on-the-go!

I'm a bookworm, I have a bookshelf in the house overflowing with books. So this is one of the things I also like about this gadget. With just a touch of the screen you can read your favorite books, magazine and newspapers with the pre-loaded Amazon Kindle e-Reader. ThinkFree Office, an application that's compatible with Microsoft Office applications, can be used to view and edit, as well as create new, documents. I can edit some of the articles that I write without going online. Usable for my blogging needs even without an internet connection.

The Tab makes creating and sharing images and video fast and portable with its two cameras. And yes, the unlimited games that can be downloaded!

I have to dream about it for now. Save, save, save. In a few months, hopefully not years, I'll have one to carry anywhere I go.

Mother's Day 2011

The special day for Mama's around the world falls on Sunday, May 8, this year. Mother's Day started during the seventeenth century in England. It was called "Mothering Sunday" and celebrated every fourth Sunday in Lent. The first official Mother's Day celebration in the USA was in 1914 when President Woodrow Wilson declared it a national holiday on the second Sunday in May.

languages of mom necklace

I'm thinking of buying a mother day jewelry for mom. It's a necklace that's named languages of mom. Engraved around the pendant are "Mom" in nine different languages and script. A perfect gift for a perfect mom, don't you think so?

my cup of tea

I read an article about the benefits of drinking a cup of tea a day. Based on studies, one of the secrets to living a longer life is to drink tea everyday.

I am a coffee person. As soon as I open my eyes in the morning, first thing I do is drink coffee or I'll be a walking zombie the whole day. I drink 2-3 big cups of coffee a day. More makes me sick and sleepless at night.

I have been trying to convert my coffee addiction to drinking tea. But my taste buds like coffee more. Until I found Lipton's Herbal Collection.

Lipton Herbal Collection

All the different varieties taste good! There's a bit of tea-taste but the natural flavors are more dominant. Based on the number of times I've tried drinking tea, every variety from Lipton and other brands, I obviously don't like it. But since I've tried Lipton's Herbal Collection, I have been drinking it almost every night after dinner or before going to sleep.

Not a tea-drinker? Try this, you'll love it.

chocolate eclairs, yummy!

I accepted some mystery shopping jobs last year. One assignment was to visit this popular store that sells clothing, food, gifts, wine and much more. I was required to buy something which I can reimburse together with the mystery shopping payment. The maximum amount for reimbursement was bigger than what others usually allow.

I bought a bottle of perfume, which I gave to my sister later on, because the lotion that I wanted to buy was out-of-stock  I'm a cologne person and perfume is not allowed in our house because of my son's allergic rhinitis. I also bought something that made so addicted I was able to finish everything right away.

Chocolate Eclairs! Chewy chocolate outside and super yummy caramel inside. Who wouldn't get addicted with it?

how secure is your wireless connection?

What's the first thing that you should do with a new wi-fi router? Password-protect your wireless connection router. You don't want to experience what this guy did.

Lying on his family room floor with assault weapons trained on him, shouts of "pedophile!" and "pornographer!" stinging like his fresh cuts and bruises, the Buffalo, NY homeowner didn't need long to figure out the reason for the early morning wake-up call from a swarm of federal agents.

That new wireless router. He'd gotten fed up trying to set a password. Someone must have used his Internet connection, he thought. ~ Yahoo News

This isn't the first time an incident like this happened. And the unnamed homeowner won't be the last to experience this scary and humiliating incident.

A study released in February conducted for the Wi-Fi Alliance, the group that promotes wireless technology standards, provides a sense of how often computer users rely on the generosity, or most of the time technological shortcomings, of their neighbors to gain Internet access. An estimated 201 million households worldwide use Wi-Fi networks, according to the alliance.

Go ahead, put a password on your router now. It only takes a few minutes to protect your wi-fi network from unauthorized access.

Charice's second Glee appearance

I wasn't able to watch the live airing of the "A Night of Neglect" episode of Glee. Sunshine Corazon, a Filipina exchange student played by Charice, was once again seen on the said episode. The Chasters, fans club of Charice, and the Filipino Community were very excited, after months of waiting, for her second Glee appearance. Charice sang "All By Myself", a Celine Dion original.

writer's block?

I'm not a professional writer but I am very passionate with my blogging. There are days when I experience this thing called Writer's Block. Writer's block is a condition when an author can't produce new work. If you're a blogger like me, here are some ways that you can do before this horrible condition ruin your blogging career.

writer's block

Pictures - I take pictures of anything and everything. I don't leave the house without my point and shoot camera. As soon as I arrive home, all the "anything and everything" shots are downloaded in a folder especially dedicated for "blog pictures". When WB hits me, all I have to do is look at the pictures and an idea springs to life!

Wonder Wheel - When I can't think of anything to write, I usually use this Google feature. I first think of something related to my blog. Then I Google it. At the left side of the initial search query, I click on Wonder Wheel and voila! more related search term to the original search query. More Words=More Ideas.

Mirror - I have a full length mirror in my house. I stand in front of it and look for something fabulous about me. And the flaws as well. For example today, when I stood in front of the mirror, I noticed that I have dark circles under my eyes. I'll research how I can fix the problem and write about it on my health blog.

What about you? How do you fight your battle with WB?

the little black dress

I was an avid follower of the television show Tim Gunn's Guide To Style. He has this list of ten must-have in every woman's wardrobe. The Ten Wardrobe Elements are mostly classic pieces that fits you properly, are not outdated, and bring out your best features. First on the list is the basic black dress.

Basic Black Dress - The basic black dress has been around for a long time. It is often called the "Little Black Dress", and it's true that shorter skirts on the basic black dress, when they hit you in the right place, can be more flattering than a long black dress. ~suite101.com
I haven't found the perfect black dress for me, yet. But one of these days, I'll find "the one". You should look for yours too.

friday fill-in's 15 April 2011

1. For me, it was just rude and inconsiderate to drive fast when your passenger is already scared and asking you to drive slow.

2. I will buy fish and veggies at my local supermarket. Can't eat meat this Holy Week.

3. Behind the sound of the wind in the trees, I heard someone crying. I got scared, got ready to run...then I woke up...it was only a dream.

4. Travel is something I always wanted to do.

5. When it was over, then it's over.

6. My son was out last night but I never felt alone because he's just a phone call away.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to having a haircut, tomorrow my plans include tweaking my new blog and Sunday, I want to read a good book!

the most beautiful woman in the world

I am not a big fan of any celebrity. I love watching movies and television shows, but I am not a die-hard-fan-slash-stalker of any famous person. I remember when I was a little girl, my aunt was a big fan of Pops Fernandez. She used to bring me with her whenever Pops has mall shows. She even asked me to call a landline number and ask for Pops. It was the right number but Pop's yaya answed the phone.

Although I'm not adore-you-and-have-a-shrine-in-my-house fan, I do admire some of these people. They are beautiful in their own right.

fyi: no more entrecard widget

You might have noticed that I don't have an entrecard widget anymore. Here's the reason why. I was checking my entrecard account while working on my layout.

entrecard widget deleted
amitbhawani
What I saw on my entrecard widget was very disturbing, a blog about teenage suicide. I decided then and there to delete the entrecard widget because number 1: I am a Mommy Blogger, not appropriate for this blog to advertise a blog teaching about those kind of things. number 2: I never approved that advertiser, I think it's a pre-approved ad by entrecard.

So there. Bye entrecard!

breakfast cravings

This, I tell you, is not good! Chicharon with vinegar is not good for breakfast! I don't just need Mesothelioma for my not-sexy-anymore? body. With all the cravings going on in there -my head needs one too.

chicharon

When I go grocery shopping, I try to avoid passing by the chips section. Marty's Vegetarian Chicharon is one of my favorite companion while watching television. Although it has "vegetarian" on it, I'm not convinced that everything on it is good for the body. Still, as I've said, my favorite -so the more I should convince myself I shouldn't pass by the chips section.

This is the last one, I promise.

tokyo electric power company plans to release radioactive water

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) is planning to release radioactive water, from its crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear station, into the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday. The government approved to release water with low radioactive contamination into the sea to make room for liquids with higher radiation levels.

something old, something almost-new

I don't like the feel of crisp, newly-washed jeans. It feels so tight on my waist and moving around is very uncomfortable. That's the reason why I only wash my jeans after a week or two of wearing it. Jeans worn for a few days is so comfortable to wear. Same sentiment with old jeans.

Victoria Beckham South Beach Cropped Jean
i want this Victoria Beckham South Beach Cropped Jean

Last week, I found this store that sell second hand clothes. It has racks and racks of clothes, even bridesmaid dresses, that are so cheap. Some are even brand new, complete with price tags, I can't help but check if I can buy something for me.

I ended up buying cropped jeans that has swarovski crystals on the front and back pockets. How much did I pay? 130 pesos! Roughly $2.70 (as of this writing). Cheap and comfortable to wear! I'm going back for more good finds.

moisturizing facial scrub

Gently exfoliates while leaving skin moisturized. When I read that on the 5oz tube of St. Ives Moisturizing Olive Scrub, I grabbed and put it in my grocery cart right away. Who wouldn't want an exfoliant and moisturiser in one tube?

I've been using St. Ives Apricot Scrub for the longest time so I know that this new scrub from St. Ives will not be a disappointment. The Olive Scrub beads are bigger, but fewer, than the Apricot Scrub. What I like about it is no matter how long I scrub my face, it doesn't dry up. Although my face feels clean and not dry after rinsing, I still put on moisturizer. Just to make sure my face is getting the TLC it deserves.
