Martin Late at Night is Back!

I was a big fan of Martin Late at Nite and was probably the saddest fan when it aired its last show in 2003. But now it’s back on ABS-CBN! Martin Late @ Night airs every Friday nights at 11:30 pm – 12:15 am after the news show Bandila.

Martin Late at Night ABS-CBN

I’ve been hearing of its comeback for months already but only had the chance to watch tonight. Tonight’s guest is Lea Salonga. Lea taught Martin how to play this video game. I forgot the name, sorry. Like me, Martin is not a “gamer” so he doesn’t know how to use the controls.

It was a very fun episode, Martin and Lea are both very witty and talkative. Jet Mandela had a brief appearance at the end of the show.

I won’t miss the next Friday night episodes. Hopefully, this show will last for years.

Welcome back Martin!

7 Best TV Shows

I used to love watching TV. I don't have the time to do that now because of mommy duties and work. I have to do two or three things at the same time if I want to watch something. I get to watch the news when I'm preparing dinner or washing the dishes.

I miss the days when I have lots of free time on my hands to do everything that I want to do. Here are the top 7 shows on my favorite list.

7th-heaven-cast 7th Heaven - Reverend Eric and Annie Camden makes parenting looks so easy. I just don't understand why their kids still finds a way to misbehave. But I so love this show. A local channel airs a 7th Heaven marathon during the Holy Week and I always look forward to watching the reruns for one whole day.

The Cosby Show - Dr. Cliff and Atty Claire Huxtable, my fave TV  parents just like the Camdens. Their kids didn't give them as much headache as the Camden kids gave their parents. A funny TV show, just the way I like it.

Friends - Phoebe, Rachel, Monica, Ross, Chandler and Joey, I miss them all! Fans have been waiting, when will they ever start planning for the Friends movie?
The Nanny - Do you feel that you'd rather be wearing a headset when Fran is talking? Not me! I love how witty and funny Fran Drescher's character is. Or was.

Charmed - My week then will never be complete when I miss watching the Halliwell sisters beat evil warlocks.

Gilmore Girls - I love watching the mother-daughter tandem of cool-mom Lorelie and smart Rory Gilmore.

Brothers and Sisters - Did this tv show left us hanging? I do think that the last episode shoul not have been the last episode.

Some good things never last. But at least I can still watch these shows on cable, dvd, blu-ray and online.

MMT #9 - Mom-ME Time, 17 June 2011

I was able to have my Mom-ME time everyday last week. Yes, everyday! Good for me? Well, I'm sure if you're a SAHM or WAHM, you most often than not have this ME time also. As soon as the school bus picks up RJ, I turn on the television and watch the local morning news of ABS-CBN while eating breakfast. I also watch other local channel's morning show while the ABS-CBN news show is on commercial break.

A good combination to start the day, right? Breakfast they say is the most important meal of the day. Although I'm not a big breakfast eater, I try to eat a portion good enough to make me full until lunch time.

I get ideas on what to blog about from the morning show. But I'm appealing to the news team to please, please give more importance to good quality news instead of reporting  gruesome, unimportant news that even give wrong ideas to uneducated people. Report what happened but don't give the details of how the bad deed was done.

I might have frowned a bit when I watched those bad news, but overall my ME time was superb! So, how was your ME time?

MMT #4 – Mom-ME Time, 11 June 2011

The linky for the Mom-ME time meme will be up a day earlier than usual. This coming week, starting tomorrow actually, is going to be a very busy week for me.

So, what did I do for my ME time this week?

My son asked me yesterday if he can use my laptop to write a “novel”. With nothing else to do, I decided to just watch tv. I found a show that I’ve only seen for the first time and I enjoyed it.

Main Cast of Out of Practice

OUT OF PRACTICE is a comedy about a family of physicians who share the same profession but have little else in common. Ben Barnes (Christopher Gorham) is an earnest young couples' counselor whose family doesn't consider him to be a "real" doctor because he doesn't have "M.D." after his name. They're the real doctors: Ben's brother, Oliver (Ty Burrell) is good-looking, self-centered, and a plastic surgeon who enjoys dating the prettiest women in town, some of whom he helped make that way; and his sister Regina (Paula Marshall) is an E.R. doctor who's hooked on the non-stop action there. Their divorcing parents are Stewart (Henry Winkler), a gastroenterologist who is glad to be free from the reins of his controlling wife, and Lydia (Stockard Channing), a driven, status conscious cardiologist whose career eclipsed her ex's years ago. Stewart is also dating Crystal (Jennifer Tilly), his assistant, who just happens to be a patient of Oliver's. But despite their lofty credentials, Ben might be the best prescription for the future of this family. ~cbs.com

It’s a really funny show, which first aired in September 2005, but it stopped airing new shows in 2006. Now I’ve found a show that I can watch on my Nokia phone during my I-feel-so-lazy days.

ABS-CBN's Imortal

There's this show on ABS-CBN that started late last year. Imortal. Just like the Twilight Saga, it's a story about vampires and werewolves. But unlike the story of the Twilight Saga, which is a love story between the vampire Edward Cullen and the human Bella Swan, Imortal is a love story between werewolf Lia Ortega and vampire Mateo Rodriguez.

ABS-CBN Imortal

Watching the first episode is laughable to some because of the similarity to some Twilight scenes. Mateo's vampire dad, who like the Cullens belong to a tribe of good vampires, fell in love with a human. The similarity ended with the giving birth to Mateo. Ceres, his mom, died because Roman, his vampire dad, chose not to give her a "cursed life".

Lia Ortega, the strongest werewolf, became the leader of a group that protects humans from vampires.

I don't really watch the show on television because I really hate the advertisements. I just wait for the video online. I really like the plot, very interesting. Except for the love scenes which I think is not appropriate for a 9pm show. It only happened once, I was able to fast forward it because I watch online, but the kids who watch it! Hopefully they don't show scenes like that again, it doesn't help the show at all. Talk about awkward -for parents and kids who watch together!

Do you also watch the show? What makes you watch it every single night?

finally!

I wasn't able to watch it when it was first aired here in the Philippines. I searched for it on youtube and I was able to watch part of the show. It is on youtube where she was discovered by Ellen Degeneres and Oprah Winfrey.

I am talking about Charice Pempengco and her guesting in The Oprah Winfrey Show. I was able to catch the rerun earlier of The World's Most Talented Kids episode of the show. Charice was promoting her first Pop-RNB album entitled which includes the chart topping Pyramid. Justin Bieber, another Youtube sensation, is also a guest of the show.

It also feels good to be a Filipino sometimes. Thanks to many Filipino's who made a name for themselves worldwide, just like Charice, like Manny Pacquiao, Arnel Pineda, Monique Lhuillier, and many others.

I hope more talented Filipino's make it big internationally and put the Philippines on the map.

what's your favorite reality show

One of my favorite reality show is Kendra. I like watching her not because I'm a fan of playboy magazine. I like her personality, she's a very happy person. Her laugh is so funny and yes contagious. Whenever I have a bad day, a happy show usually lifts my mood.

One episode that I like was when she got depressed with how slow her body was recovering after giving birth. I didn't like it because she was depressed. I liked that episode because it shows that celebrities, no matter how sexy they are, will also have the same problems like us normal moms. She was finally able to reduce belly fat after months of exercising with a trainor.

I was shocked, as her mom must have been, when she arranged a blind date for her mom. She even interviewed middle-age guys before picking the guy that she thinks her mom will like. And that's worth another post.

The Sound of Music Cast at the Oprah Winfrey Show

I am a big fan of "The Sound of Music". The very first movie that I've watched in Betamax. I have watched this movie for more than a dozen times. And I don't get tired watching it again.

Julie Andrews and the other cast of the movie we're at the Oprah Show for their first reunion in 45 years last October 28. When will it be shown here in the Philippines? I can't wait to watch it!

ellen and oprah's biggest fan

Me!

I am a big fan. There was a rerun of last year's Oprah episode, when Ellen was a guest, this afternoon. I had to finish it eventhough I was already running late in picking up my son from school. I just love that episode.

I love Ellen's energy, she is very funny! She must have drank something before the show because she has so much energy! I am sad though that the Oprah show will be off the air soon. Will surely miss her.

I heart Brothers and Sisters

One of the shows that is worthy enough to be included in my "would rather not sleep early than fail to watch" list is Brothers & Sisters. Catch it every Monday at 9 pm on Studio 23.

The compelling one-hour drama series, is about a collection of five enmeshed and somewhat damaged adult siblings and their strong but passionately devoted mother, Nora Walker (Oscar and Emmy Award winner, Sally Field). The Walkers' lives have not been without challenge; romance, parenting, divorce, infidelity, addiction, war and even death have pushed each of them to the limit, but they continue to work toward living their lives as individuals, while loving each other unconditionally and trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy after the loss and lies of their larger-than-life family patriarch, William Walker.

Eldest sibling Sarah (Emmy Award nominee Rachel Griffiths) is a newly divorced mother of two who finds herself in a power struggle now that she has to help run the family business, Ojai Foods, with her father's lifelong mistress, Holly Harper (Patricia Wettig). Also running the business is loyal brother Tommy Walker (Balthazar Getty). Tommy finds himself torn between his loyalty to his family and the desire to make his father's company profitable again, while trying to keep his own marriage alive and provide the emotional support needed by his beautiful wife, Julia (Sarah Jane Morris) and baby daughter, Elizabeth. Kevin (Matthew Rhys) is an openly gay lawyer who has finally found his soul mate and a new spouse in compassionate, loving, chef-in-training Scotty Wandell (Luke Macfarlane). He'll call his own career into question when he experiences prejudice about his sexuality within the law firm. The baby of the family, Justin (Dave Annable) has struggled with war trauma, injury and addiction while unsuccessfully resisting his attraction to Rebecca (Emily VanCamp), who he once thought to be his illegitimate half sister. Kitty (Calista Flockhart) and Robert McCallister (Rob Lowe) move forward with plans to adopt a child after a devastating miscarriage and an unsuccessful Presidential run. Saul Holden (Ron Rifkin) is the emotional pillar of the Walker family, who has finally chosen to live his own life, exploring his feelings as a now openly gay man. And holding them all together is Nora Walker, the matriarch of the family.
