The best birthday gift
The best birthday gift that I receive every year, since giving birth to my son, is a tight hug, a kiss and "I love you, Mama" from him.
Actually, he hug, kiss and say "I love you, Mama" everyday. He is such a sweet child.

enjoy and have fun!
RJ is on his way to his first-ever camping trip. It's an out of town father and son Boy Scouts' activity for 3 days. The mother and son activity, held at his school last year, was just for a whole day. I am envious because I was never allowed to join Girls Scout camping trips when I was still in school.
A lot of the mom's were worried, including me of course, that the dad's won't be able to take care of the kids. Some were even planning to follow the buses, in their RC cars, just to make sure the kids will safely arrive in the camping ground.
Have fun RJ!

why i don't want to tutor my son
I have tutored kids as young as 6 years old as well as teenagers having diffuculty in math. I am a very patient tutor. But when it comes to tutoring my own son, who I love more than anybody in the whole universe, I don't have as much patience. I've talked with other tutors and they have the same sentiments as well -they enroll their kids to another tutor.
I guess it's because I know what he can and he can't do. I know that, 99.9% of the time, he's just too lazy to try to understand the lessons or do his homework. He waits for me to get angry -that's his cue to finally do his homework or show me that he really does understand the lesson. It breaks my heart when tears fall from his eyes. It's just a waste of precious time because at the end he always says, "That lesson is sooo easy!"

Can you recommend a tutor?

i almost had a heart attack
8th of September
My heart was palpitating so much but I was worried I was going to faint already. I finally saw RJ going down the ramp. I feel like shouting, "Hurry! Give me that report card already!"
I couldn't wait for RJ's dismissal. I was already waiting for him, at his school, an hour and a half before the dismissal bell rings. Why was I early? His report card, grades for the first quarter, will be released today.
I already told him the night before that a numerical grade of 79 and lower is failing for me. He kept insisting that a grade of 75 is still passing.

My heart was palpitating so much but I was worried I was going to faint already. I finally saw RJ going down the ramp. I feel like shouting, "Hurry! Give me that report card already!"
I heaved a sigh of relief. His lowest grade is 80, highest is 94! He still got an average of 89.
I will let him play his DSi this weekend.

your dream for your child
My son wants to be a farmer when he grows up. That was his dream when he was in his terrible-two. Then he changed his mind - he would make a good taxi or bus driver someday. I was speechless at that time, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry! I want him to dream of something BIG for himself. I want him to accomplish more than what Papa or Mama accomplished.
When he was in preschool, I was finally able to breath a sigh of relief. His dreams, for his future, are becoming more in line with my dreams for him. But now that he's in 3rd grade, I've come to a great realization. I will be supportive with whatever career he choose in the future. Provided that he's happy with it and it's not dangerous like standing on top of steel buildings.

back pains
I have scoliosis. I found out when I was 12 years old. The doctor said, "It is just a factory defect". Not funny doc, not funny at all. I decided not to use a back brace because I didn't want to be the center of attention in school. How can I find friends in a new school if I look funny. I was imagining myself with something on my back everywhere I go. Betty is more lucky than me. She just needs to wear braces on her teeth!
Back pains are becoming more frequent though. My son is planning to put up a massage business in our house. He said that a few months back, when he was still 8 years old, so I think I will invest in his business. I hope he accepts my proposal. I will buy the massage tables and all I ask in return is a free massage everyday!
nervous and worried
RJ has fever since last night. What's making me worried is his continuous coughing. An asthma attack usually follows excessive coughing. Although the attacks were scarce the past few months, it's still making me worried. The fever has lowered down and his coughing stops after every nebulization. I hope his temperature won't shoot up tonight. And hopefully, his coughing doesn't lead to an asthma attack. My reliable, not-fancy-like-Panerai, watch says it's 6:20PM already. Time for RJ's medicine.

i am a mom first
My number one priority is my son RJ. Me, myself and I - just next on the list. I was pretty young when I gave birth to him at the age of 24. Although I was just starting to build a "career" at that time, I decided to put it on-hold. From the time he was born, I was with him 24/7.
He's 9 years old now. I now have a few hours each day, while he's in school, to put up a homebased business. But the fact still remains - I will always be a mom first.

yummy cannelloni pasta dish
My son loves this yummy (and healthy!) dish and he doesn't know it's stuffed with veggies!
he's eating "yucky" carrots!
Do you also want to trick your child?
Here's what you should do.
1. Saute one minced onion, six cloaves minced garlic, 1/2 kilo ground chicken (or beef or pork-whichever your taste buds prefer) in butter and oil.
2. Add chopped sweet ham, one large cubed carrot, one large cubed green bell pepper, one can corn kernel and one can stewed tomatoes.
3. Transfer the mixture in a container to cool down.
4. Using the same pan, combine one large can tomato sauce, one cup fresh milk (evap will also do) and grated cheese. Simmer for 5 minutes.
5. Stuff uncooked cannelloni pasta with veggie-meat mixture.
6. Pour 1/4 of the sauce mixture in a baking dish. Layer the cannellonis. Pour the rest of the sauce mixture. Top with grated cheese.
7. Bake in 160c preheated oven for 30 minutes.
I feel so victorious everytime I cook this for my son. But I also have to intensify my workout because I always end up eating 2-3 servings of this delish dish!

school bus dilemma
RJ's first day in 3rd grade is this Wednesday. The school year has not started yet but I am having a problem with the school service...again.
My son is a member of his school's swim team and it's a must for him to train everyday after school. Swim training is from 430 PM - 630 PM. The bus mother, of the school service, texted me that they will only wait for students until 5 PM to bring them home for this school year.
Still contemplaiting on what to do. Any suggestions?

where to spot celebrities
I know where to spot local celebrities, rub elbows with them (literally) while also giving your body its much needed exercise.
Where? In a track oval. I am not kidding.
A few years back, badminton was the exercise of choice for 99% of Filipinos. Am I exaggerating? But everyone I know would rather go to a badminton court everyday than sweat in a health club. I think I was the only one who was not into it. I would rather do aerobics in the house.
But now goodbye badminton. Hello running!
what to do in a track oval? play DSi
It looks like people are into running these days. Marathons are being organized left and right.
I have seen local celebrities doing their laps. Richard Gutierrez, Raymond Gutierrez, Michael De Mesa, Drew Arellano, Rovilson Fernandez to name a few.
Why don't you head on to a track oval near you, to exercise and maybe you'll see your favorite celeb there.

will run in ULTRA tonight
I am gaining so much weight, I decided to run for the 2nd time this year in ULTRA, Pasig. I hope I can catch up with my son. He joined a 2.5k run in Clark, Pampanga last year and 3k Airspeed Run in MOA early this year. He has more stamina than I am since he is also a swimmer.
First time I ran with him he said I did a good job. Wish me luck!
