DSWD's Save the Street Kids

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has recently launched Save the Street Kids. Very timely for the Christmas season, the time of the year when street kids are used by bad groups to generate money. These groups order the kids to steal or beg for money on the streets.

Through DSWD's Save the Street Kids, we can make the lives of these kids better by returning them to their families or housing them in a DSWD center. When you see a street child on the street, here's what you should do:

1. Ask where her mother or father is.
2. Secretary Jinkee Soliman said that a child who can't say where his/her parents are or runs away when asked is an obvious sign that the child is working for a bad syndicate group.
3. Tweet the following to @savestreetkids: complete address/ nearest intersection or landmark where child was seen/ time of sighting.

After receiving your tweet, the @savestreetkids admin will send an acknowledgement reply and deploy a reach out person/team to the address that you've tweeted. We need to be patient since the program is fairly new and there are a lot of street kids that needs to be reached out to in the streets of Metro Manila.

FYI: Available in Metro Manila only, for now.

Sharon Cuneta and her twitter followers

As I was browsing the latest tweets today, I found my way to Sharon Cuneta’s twitter account. I feel intrigued with her tweets but I also feel sorry for her.

Intrigued because her tweets were about KC, Piolo and Bakla.

Feel sorry for her because she should have known better than to answer the tweets. She is a smart person, why read those tweets in the first place? I’m not her but when I read the tweets hurled at her left and right, by Piolo fans?, I feel disgusted. The tweets were clearly made by uneducated people.

She should block those people if she can’t control herself from reading the tweets and answering back.

nothing to write?

There are days when I can’t think of anything to write, like right now.

blank-mind writers block

I can categorize my blogs into personal and informative. I have two personal blogs and this is where I write my most inner thoughts as well as the daily happening in my life. The info blogs, I have 8, are niche blogs where I share information that I myself have just read or learned. More time is needed to write a single post on my niche blogs compared with my personal blogs. For my niche blogs, I have to do some extensive research so as not to give wrong information to people. My personal blog, all I have to do is recall the things that happened to me and voila - new blog post!

As I've said, there are days when my mind goes blank - can’t think of anything to write. So what do I do when that happens? For my personal blog, I turn to twitter and read my previous tweets. There was a time when I tweeted about a certain book that I read  and it gave me an inspiration on what to write.

For my information blogs, I update my iPod’s news applications and sync it to my Read Me Later app and I’m good to go - even without WiFi connection. My favorite news apps are Pulse News, Flipboard and World News.

Do you have days like mine also? What do you usually do to solve the my-mind-is-blank-today problem?

twitter apps that i love

I use different twitter applications on my iPod Touch. I rarely use it for tweeting new blog posts because Windows Live Writer does the job for me. It automatically tweets newly published posts, complete with hashtag (like if my blog post is about the PSEi, #PSEi is included on the tweet) and url link to the post. Will explain further on a different blog post. So back to the twitter apps that I usually use...

I love echofon, I get to stalk conversations of other tweeps. And it automatically gives notifications of new mentions and DM's, no need to open the application first. Good search results also for users and @ mentions. Easy editing of following lists.

UberSocial is another favorite. Because one: it has twitlonger and two: the Uber Channels.

twitbird twitter application
My newly downloaded iPod twitter application is TwitBird. Twitlonger, emoji, url shortener, hashtag search, and it can fetch and post the music on your ipod's song list and whatever music is currently on. And lots of other apps on this awesome app!

They say twitbot is the best twitter app there is. But it's a paid app, I'm not that into twitter, so not the app for me.

What twitter application do you usually use? Any favorites?

Deal or no deal

I don’t want to get addicted with online deal buying so I rarely look at the current deals on my email inbox. But there’s this one discount that caught my attention and I decided to buy just-this-once.

So I paid with Paypal, saw that the voucher was in my account at the deal’s site already, logged out and forgot about it for a month. Last week I remembered it and was planning to print it, the voucher, but I can’t log-in to my account. So I thought I might just have forgotten the password. When I tried to reset my password, “Error: You are not a valid User” showed up.

deals site forgot password

I tried every single email address that I have, still the same error message. I wanted to solve the problem right away so I tried to contact them on their twitter account. Received no reply from them. It was a weekend so it’s understandable that they can’t reply to my tweets because they are off from work.
Monday, I saw them with new tweets but no reply to my tweets to them.

deals site forgot password2

After my tweets above, I received a reply that I should email their support. They only have one email address as compared with other deal’s site. So I did that and still no reply from their support staff. If I don’t get a reply within this week, yes I am a very understanding customer, I will divulge the name of this deal’s site.

Love moves in mysterious ways

I was wondering why Kris Aquino was asking everyone in twitter to vote for Christian Bautista's video, revival of Love Moves in Mysterious Ways. I found out today.

Kris Aquino's tweet asking for votes: Christian Bautista's Love Moves in Mysterious Ways

My nephew likes watching MYX, ABS-CBN's music channel  that features music video lyrics on-screen, more than cartoons. The top 5 video for today is Love Moves in Mysterious Ways. Watch the video and find out why Kris Aquino has been diligently tweeting, asking everyone to vote for the said video.

hostage taking in manila

The hostage-taking incident of a tourist bus, in front of Quirino Grandstand where P-noy was sworn into office a few months back, didn't end happily.

In my opinion, the hostage taker is a selfish prick! Most of the gun wounds found on the victims have entry points at the back. I must admit I made a mistake. He is not a selfish prick. He is an insane, very coward person!

trending worlwide, twitter

What I don't understand though is how we let the world think we are proud of it!? Quirino Grandstand was at the top of the trending words at twitter --at the very same moment the hostage taker was shot dead. Hostage Taker, Mendoza, PNP and Philippine were trending as well. It is so embarrassing! Filipinos could have avoided "those words" when they saw it trending already. Instead of avoiding, they kept on tweeting and retweeting the said words.

Two hours after, Isko Moreno and Venus Raj joined in the fun!
